Resilience Family Counseling
I graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts, Honors in Psychology, in 1994. I was also interested in and studied women's issues, and volunteered with the Rape Victim Advocacy Center. After graduation, I moved to Indiana, attended a program at Indiana State University which I completed in 1997, obtaining a Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy. While in Indiana, my internship was as a family therapist in the psychiatric unit of the local hospital. Upon graduation, I returned to Iowa, and married Tim. We have been married for nineteen years and have two children, three dogs, and a gecko.
I have been licensed as a marital and family therapist in Iowa since 1999. My work experience includes providing in-home therapy, supervising an after-school day treatment program for at-risk youth, and most recently working at St. Luke's Hospital here in Cedar Rapids in a variety of positions, providing in-patient and out-patient counseling services. As I have moved into the private practice setting, I have had the wonderful opportunity to become a part of many people's lives; challenging them to become more intentional in their lives, strengthening their relationships, and solving the problems that present themselves, offering opportunities for growth and acceptance of self.
I am an in-network provider for several insurance companies, but encourage you to call the company directly to inquire about your personal counseling benefits.
